Learning Path
From First Principles to First Portfolio
The masterclass is structured as a progression — each phase builds on the last. Here is what that journey looks like, and what you will be able to produce by the end.
The program is designed to be worked through in order, though you can revisit any module at any time. Most learners complete a phase in one to two focused sessions. There are no deadlines or cohort schedules — you move at your own pace. Plan for roughly 10–15 hours of total engagement across all five phases, including the practice exercises.
- 1
Phase 1
Build the Foundation
Module 1 — Copy Fundamentals & Ethical Persuasion
Start with the principles that underpin all effective copy: what makes a message clear, what makes it persuasive, and where the line is between honest and misleading. This is the groundwork everything else builds on.
Skills built
- Clarity over cleverness
- Honest persuasion
- Message structure basics
Practice deliverable
Short reflection exercise: annotate a piece of real marketing copy with your observations.
- 2
Phase 2
Understand the Client
Module 2 — Audience Research & Client Briefs
Good copy starts before you write a word. This phase teaches you to ask the right discovery questions, interpret a brief, and translate a client's goal into a focused message plan that guides everything you write.
Skills built
- Brief interpretation
- Audience profiling
- Message planning
Practice deliverable
Complete a one-page message plan for a supplied practice brief.
- 3
Phase 3
Write Real Copy
Module 3 — Headlines, Body Copy & Email Writing
With a message plan in hand, you learn to write: headline variations, structured landing-page sections, and a short email sequence. This is the longest, most practice-intensive phase of the program.
Skills built
- Headline writing
- Landing-page structure
- Email sequencing
Practice deliverable
A complete practice landing-page section and a 3-email sequence from a supplied brief.
- 4
Phase 4
Sharpen Your Work
Module 4 — Editing, Fact-Checking & Tone
First drafts are rarely final. This phase gives you a repeatable editing process: check for clarity, verify any claims, match the client's tone, and cut what does not earn its place. These are the skills that make your work reliable.
Skills built
- Self-editing process
- Fact-checking habits
- Tone calibration
Practice deliverable
Edit and annotate your Phase 3 draft using the supplied checklist.
- 5
Phase 5
Prepare to Offer the Service
Module 5 — Scoping, Handoff & Portfolio Practice
The final phase bridges learning and doing. You will write a simple service scope with revision limits, package your best practice samples into a starter portfolio, and walk through what a first client conversation might look like.
Skills built
- Service scoping
- Revision management
- Portfolio presentation
Practice deliverable
A two-sample starter portfolio and a written service scope document.
